ABOUT
I am an artist currently based in Tokyo, Japan. Four years ago I made the decision to focus on my art – and this website gives you an insight into my acrylic and pastel paintings. This website also gives an insight into my wine paintings – utilizing wine as a medium. This is a new art form – but one which I am proud to be experimenting with.

You will see that many of my wine paintings are of the female form – I feel red wine is the perfect way to express the delicacy, beauty and sensuality of women.

INTERVIEW

FASHION ILLUSTRATOR
Featured Fashion Artist: Edgar Lizarazu Shiosaky
April 30, 2017

"My father always told me I could never make money from art... Now I am finally following my dreams."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field?

My goal is to continue being as creative as I can be - never being limited by what those around me see as art, and always creating even through new mediums

How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?

Always friendly, and my wife tells me I can be way too trusting - but I want to believe those around me are true. I always communicate with customers for commissioned pieces - I want to give them the painting they truly desire.

If you had to do it over again, what would you change?

My father always told me I could never make money from art - so I became a graphic designer and finally had the chance to bring art back into my life at nearly 50 years old. Now I am finally following my dreams - but I always wonder what would be different if I'd gone for what I wanted at a younger age!

Who is your hero, and how have they helped you get to where you are?

My wife. If it wasn't for my wife, the unique person who trusted in my ability and told me I should go for my dreams - and that she would support me in that path - then I wouldn't be where I am today, living and breathing my Art!

How important are creative education courses? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful?

I went to art school for four years when I was 18. Yes, of course, it taught me the techniques and helped me hone my skills, but I honestly think life has told me so much more. Everything around me is my inspiration and my muse - and I encourage all budding artists to not limit their learning to classrooms. Life is the biggest classroom of all, after all!

Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry?

Go for what you want - don't be limited by what people say, or what you think you should do. Trust in yourself and your abilities - and the rest will follow.
